European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI)

European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI) is an association supporting higher education institutions to work together in the field of academic integrity. ENAI was established in May 2017 and so far there are 23 member institutions from 17 countries, 11 individual supporters and 3 affiliated networks.

Our objectives are to promote integrity in whole academia (i.e. education, research, ethics and other aspects of academic sector), specifically:

to collaborate towards research and promotion of academic integrity
to provide a platform for academics across all sectors to investigate, exchange, develop, collaborate and access resources in the field of academic integrity
to offer opportunities for researchers, educators and practitioners to take a leadership role in the field of academic integrity
to present best practices in the management of academic integrity
to make available a central point of reference where issues of academic integrity can be discussed, researched, progressed and shared with the wider academic community
to organize conferences, workshops and other events on academic integrity
to network and collaborate with individuals and organisations actively pursuing related research
to collaborate towards research
to appreciate individual and institutional efforts regarding academic integrity by offering awards.

ENAI is one of the pioneering associations to focus on teaching, research, training and dissemination of matters relating to integrity. With the involvement of academics and researchers from wide variety of subjects including, sociology, economics, computing, biomedical sciences, medicine, it already has developed networks across Europe and beyond. It has delivered several institutional, national and international training workshop and conferences on plagiarism and academic integrity. Within the short period, ENAI has gained international credit and recognition as a central point of reference and expertise for academic integrity.

This has resulted in establishing academic and research collaborations in developing countries (such as India and Pakistan) with the focus of cross-sector cooperation and wider knowledge dissemination.

Initial activities of ENAI are funded by the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships project “European Network for Academic Integrity”, which aims foremost to raise awareness in the matters of plagiarism, academic ethics, scholarly values and academic integrity. ENAI focuses not only on students, but also on the entire academic community (including professors, researchers, post-docs, PhDs, administration staff and management, academic ethics committees, etc.).

This project envisages developing three major outputs: Educational materials for higher education institutions’ teachers and students (O1), Toolkit for cross-sector cooperation in terms of academic integrity (O2) and Handbook for improvements in academic integrity (O3).
