ENERI 1st Stakeholder Workshop

The first ENERI Stakeholder Workshop held at Athens, Greece on 28 – 29  September 2017 brought together representatives from ministries, Research Ethics Committees, Research Integrity Offices, universities, science journalists, editors and representatives from the civil society.

It dealt with different views from different stakeholders to identify the current ideas, principles and challenges in Research Ethics (RE) and Research Integrity (RI). Group work fostered strong interaction among workshop participants. Participants presented and discussed good and bad practices in RE and RI. New challenges in infrastructure for RE and RI were brought up. Delegates also sought to further develop and promote training and capacity building in RE and RI.

The Stakeholder Workshop is part of the European Network of Research Ethics and Research Integrity (ENERI) project which brings together key players on research ethics and research integrity in the European science environment. The aims of ENERI is to create a joint European network and platform that tries to intensify the exchange of expertise, to harmonize the processes within ethics reviews and investigations procedures of allegations of research misconduct and to develop a core curriculum for persons who are involved in ethics review and investigations panels.
