An online guide to best practices in the Finnish research community
www.responsibleresearch.fi – the guide to best practices in the Finnish research community now available in English
by Anni Sairio
The Responsible Research website www.responsibleresearch.fi provides information about best practices in research integrity, research ethics, research communication, and open science in Finland. The original Finnish version (www.vastuullinentiede.fi) was published in the spring of 2018, and the English version is now available.
The website facilitates the responsible conduct of research throughout the lifespan of a research project. The information covers project planning, implementation, academic publishing, and the follow-up stages of a completed project in the Finnish system. For example, what ethical practices and regulations must be considered in project planning? How to agree on authorship in joint projects? How to tackle ethical dilemmas that arise in the intersections of business and research? The material is applicable to all disciplines.
The English version of this website serves the increasingly international research community in Finland, and provides reliable up-to-date information about Finnish research practices also for those outside the country. The work is ongoing, and comments are very welcome; any feedback can be directed to project coordinator Anni Sairio (anni.sairio@tsv.fi).
The Responsible Research project is a joint venture of the Committee for Public Information (TJNK) and the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity TENK. It is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture in Finland.
